Candles have memory so your first burn is the most important.

You want to make sure the first time you light your candle the entire top layer is melted before you blow it out. Your candle remembers where it was burned up to on that first burn and will only ever burn up to the point it was last extinguished. 

So, make sure to put on a French film, pour some wine, have a recipe ready, and grab your lover because you won’t be blowing this candle out for about 2-3 hours. 

Oh, and don’t forget to trim the wick before each use! It makes the candle last longer.
